New Milford CERT graduated four individuals from its basic curriculum and also welcomed three new members who transferred from other CERT teams in CT and NJ.
The CERT course takes about 8 weeks to complete and consisted of classes and training in Disaster Preparedness, Medical Operations, Search and Rescue, Fire Safety, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism. Each student may then join the New Milford CERT team after being sworn in by the Emergency Management Director and becoming the newest trained volunteer ready to support town agencies and first responders when required.
